How did Real Baby Milk begin?

Real Baby Milk was begun by Arwen Folkes as a voluntary project during her maternity leave in 2005. Real Baby Milk was originally thought up after Arwen had a difficult start to breastfeeding and subsequently trained as a peer
supporter – it was through meeting women and health professionals at the Sure Start support group that Arwen identified the need for a brand for breastfeeding and easy access to support and information.
The project began with a £1500 Community Champions grant in November 2005 and launched in it's pilot area (Cornwall) in May 2006. The company was incorporated and a Board of Directors formed on October 11th 2006.
