Real Baby Milk is a social enterprise that does not accept funding from sources who have a commercial interest in infant feeding. We do not accept sponsorship from manufacturers or distributors of breastmilk substitutes, feeding bottles, teats or dummies. We aim to socially market breastfeeding to all parents in an inclusive, non-judgmental way. We aim to inform and provide women and their families with easy access to breastfeeding support and enable them to have the best opportunity to succeed at breastfeeding for as long as she likes.

Real Baby Milk is funded through various streams. The bulk of our funding comes through service level agreements and commissioned projects which are paid by public organisations – such as Primary Care Trusts, Local Authorities, Hospitals Trusts or other health funded bodies.

This makes up approximately 50% of our income. We also fundraise by the selling of our products (mugs / t-shirts) and we also make a very small amount through the sales of our resources (dvd's etc). The remaining 25% comes from grants and awards for specific projects. Having variety in our income streams and being only partially dependent on grants means that we are sustainable, but we do rely on our fundraising income to run the website, UK wide activities and to enable us to be responsive to a need.

The Real Baby Milk logo was designed by a Cornish designer called Katie Atkins and is now a trademarked brand. The style of the logo was decided after finding that an image of a woman breastfeeding was proving a barrier to wider marketing in local communities of breastfeeding and associated support.

We don't agree that it should be like that – but decided that if we were to reach out to all we needed a logo with that barrier in mind. We also felt that happy babies were a great advert for breastfeeding! The words Real Baby Milk were chosen as they were easy to remember and easy to say.
