"9 out of 10 women who gave up breastfeeding in the first two weeks wish that they had breastfed for longer"
(Feeding Survey 2005)
Accessing breastfeeding advice and support can be the key to a successful breastfeeding journey. Good company and moral support can really boost your confidence and help get breastfeeding established.
With the right advice and assistance there are not many challenges that can't be overcome. A breastfeeding peer supporter, lactation consultant, health professional and/or breastfeeding consultant can really help while you and your baby are getting used to breastfeeding.
There are many different forms of support and we provide links below to all that we are aware of. Our own database contains over 500 support groups (most with trained 'mum-to-mum' peer supporters) across the UK, and you can search by postcode or keyword. This database was last updated in May 2013 and is the most current listing on the web.
Real Baby Milk maintains this database of all the support groups we are aware of in the UK, so that mothers can easily find support in their local area. If you know of, or run, a support group in your area and find that it's not in our database, please email us and we will be thrilled to add it to our listing. We do everything we can to keep information up to date but if you find that a listing is incorrect then please do email us and we will update it
